Chatty Tots offers support for children who present with the following types of difficulties:

Late Talkers

Children who are late to develop their speech & language milestones.

Note: Children should be attempting single words at 1 year & combining words at 2 years of age.

Dyspraxia or Speech Difficulties
Children who present with difficulties in using correct speech sounds in words. These difficulties may range from mild delays in making a few sounds in words e.g. ‘tat’ for ‘cat’ to significant difficulties where a child needs support in making and combining individual sounds into simple words. These children may not be using spoken words or may have difficulty in pronouncing a large number of sounds in words.

Early Onset Stuttering
Children who are aged between 2 - 6 years of age, who present with difficulties in maintaining smooth speech. That is, they may be:

  • Repeating single sounds in words ( I saw a s-s-s-snake.)
  • Repeating parts of words ( I we-we-we-went to the park.) and/or whole words (My my my my cat is at home.)
  • Repeating phrases (I can I can I can ride my bike.)
  • Drawing out or prolonging sounds in words (I wwwwant an ice-cream.)

Note: A large percentage of children will experience normal disruptions to the smooth production of speech between 3-5 years of age as they are acquiring language. Please contact us if you are unsure about whether your child requires support.
